The Bit 3 Model 418 is a high performance Repeater for VME systems. TheRepeater extends a VMEbus backplane from one chassis to a second VMEbuschassis. Both chassis operate as one unit, controlled by the systemcontroller in the primary (master) chassis. The primary chassis canoperate as a stand-alone system; it does not require the secondary(slave) chassis. The secondary chassis does not have a systemcontroller; consequently, it cannot operate without the primary chassis.Model 418 provides a glitch-free environment on the primary chassisduring power up/down on secondary chassis. The Repeater also handles busrequests, bus grants, and interrupts that could cause VMEbus timingerrors on the primary chassis during power down of the secondary chassis.The 418 consists of two printed circuit cards. One card is for eachVMEbus chassis. The two cards are connected with two cables, availablein lengths up to 25 feet.
